The stability that the country has witnessed during the electioneering period should be attributed to strong democratic believes in institutions, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.
Supreme Court of Kenya annulled Uhuru’s victory thus subjecting the country to another Uhuru – Raila Odinga contest, the third in five years.
And at State House on Thursday, Uhuru accused judiciary of allegedly bungling his victory through unfair means.
“We have read the judgment and you have all seen how shallow it is. They should be lucky that I am democratic otherwise I wouldn’t have allowed the will of people to be ridiculed.
“Had I lost my cool, Kenya wouldn’t the same again. It would have burn and the court would have been blamed. I even challenged them for a recount,” he said.
For electoral process to make meaning, he said, judge should have ordered scrutiny of votes so that to avoid prejudicing the will of majority.
His vitriol against the judiciary culminated into unprecedented press conference by the Chief Justice David Maraga who slammed the political elites for allegedly interfering with the will of the majority.
