Kenyan representative to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Macharia Kamau has finally bid farewell.
Amb. Kamau, now Permanent Secretary at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced his latest move, saying his seven years at the UN has been a wonderful experience.
“Today (March 22) I bid farewell to Secretary-General António Guterres. And handed over the gavel used to adopt the historic SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. 7 years working at the UN and Kenya Mission – UN has been an honour and pleasure,” he revealed via Twitter.
During his tenure at UN, Amb. Kamau had several diplomatic assignments.
Ambassador Macharia Kamau was International Consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the United Nations AIDS.He has vast experience at the United Nations where he served for over twenty-five years mostly in senior management positions at the UNDP, UNICEF and UNTAG.
During this period, he was deployed in various countries in Eastern and Southern Africa as well as the Caribbean.
Amb. Kamau has been the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary and Permanent Representative to United Nations Office Nairobi prior to his departure.
