Kenyan-born British professional road racing cyclist, Chris Froome,  won his fourth Tour de France title after the end of the 21st and final stage on Sunday.

Froome sits fifth overall in the all-time list of Victors behind big names Eddy Merckx, Jacques Anquentil, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain.

The win comes after covering more than 3500km, 21 stages and a grueling 3 weeks .

This appears to be Froome’s closest win as his winning margin was less than a minute. He almost lost out to Rigoberto Uran from Colombia finishing at the 54 sec ahead of Romain Bardet of France who was third at 2min 20 sec.

The final stage of 103km began in Montgeron where the inaugural tour began in 1903. Froome Sky team finished as the best team having claimed the yellow helmets on the first stage three weeks ago and never relinquished their lead in the competition.

Other winners included 24 year Dutchman Groenewegen of the Lotto NL Jumbo secured a big victory of his young career. He successfully held out hard charging Andre Greipel, winner of the Champs Elysees in the previous two years.

Australia’s Michael Mathews won the sprinters’ green points jersey, Warren Barguil of France triumphed in the Polkadot king of the mountains competition.Lastly Simon Yates of Britain succeeded his twin brother Adam as the best young rider in the white jersey.
