Kenya-born Harvard scholar Calestous Juma will be laid to rest on January 6, Saturday at his Port Victoria home in Busia County. The plane carrying remains of the academician, which are currently at the Lee Funeral home, landed at JKIA at 6 am on Sunday from Boston, United States of America.

The body of Juma who died on December 15 in the US, was received family and friends at the funeral home awaiting send off.

According to the chairman of the funeral committee, Aleke Dondo, there will be a requiem mass for the deceased on Thursday at Holy Family Basilica from 2 pm.  

The body will later be transported to his home on Friday where another requiem mass will be conducted at St Nicholas Catholic Church.

The family of the deceased has expressed gratitude towards the national government and the county government of Busia for offsetting the entire cost of transporting the remains to the country ahead of his burial.   The deceased passed on two weeks ago while undergoing treatment in Boston, Massachusetts.

 Leaders from different parts of the world including President Uhuru Kenyatta,  Rwanda President Paul Kagame, and NASA Leader Raila Odinga have eulogized the deceased as a big loss to the nation.
