The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) has released a new report on the average Kenyan household budget.

The report was released on Thursday based on a survey conducted between 2015/2016.

The report is dubbed as the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey,.

 Nairobi was ranked asthe county with the least prevalence of cases of poverty.

Nyeri county came in second while Meru County, Kirinyaga County and Narok County took up third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

In the sixth position we have Kiambu which dropped from position one in the recent report.

Kiambu County was ranked sixth, a drastic drop from its position one ranking in a 2014/2015report by the KNBS

Machakos, Tharaka Nithi, Murang'a and Mombasa took the last four positions on the top 10list respectively. The counties recorded poverty rates between 20 tpo 28 per cent.

 Turkana County was hardest hit by poverty with 80 per cent of the population unable to afford food worth Sh1,954 in a month.
