[Photo|Mike Sonko]The swearing-in ceremony of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) members of parliament has been held in Arusha, Tanzania. This is after Kenyan parliament elected members a day long voting in both the Senate and the National Assembly on Thursday December 15.Those elected from Jubilee Party include:1. Simon Mbugua (286 votes)2. Florence Chamatiah (252)3. Mpuri Aburi (208)4. Aden Noor (192) 5. Wanjiku Muihia (180)Those elected from the NASA coalition include:1. Kennedy Musyoka (309)2. Oburu Odinga (243)3. Abdikadir Aden (235) 4. Fatuma Ibrahim (142)The new members were sworn in on Monday in Arusha to set off the Assembly that has been in a limbo since June this year. Kenya was the only country being awaited to send their nominees to enable it to take off.Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Speaker Ken Lusaka were among guests who attended the event.During the oath taking, Mbugua from Nairobi County was elected the chairperson of EALA Kenyan chapter, Kennedy Kalonzo as the Vice Chairperson and Chamatia as the Secretary of the nine-member team.
