While some Los Blancos fans thought he had overachieved for the club and was time for him to go, some felt he should have carried on coaching to have a go at another set of glory.

The former France international has won three Champions League trophies on the bounce, no coach has ever managed that fete in the history of the champions league.

The world cup winner with France confirmed his departure at a news briefing after holding emergency talks with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

"I have decided not to be Real Madrid coach next season,” he said at the press conference with President Perez in attendance.

“I spoke to Florentino yesterday to tell him my thoughts, my feelings. I know it’s a strange moment for everyone involved but it I think it is the right decision,” he said.

His exit has left many Kenyan fans wondering what becomes of the Spanish Giants in the coming days with no possible replacements suggested.

Zidane has been a popular figure and fan favorite among Kenyan fans with most of them heaping praise on him for bringing the long lost glory back to the Bernabeu.
