The Kenyan flag was visibly displayed in Kiev, Ukraine during the match when Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos injured Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

The flag was seen when Ramos locked arms with Salah in the first-half and flung Salah to the ground in an attempted tackle that saw Liverpool’s leading goal scorer leave the match with a shoulder injury.

This is what residents had to say after seeing the photo that’s doing rounds on social media:

“It felt good seeing our flag on display during the match. Kenya was fully represented in the UEFA Champion’s League,” said Mr Aamir Ikram.

“I had to watch the repeat of the game just to see the Kenyan flag. One day we will be in these international football matches,” Mr Mohamed Abdi said.

“Travelling to watch the game live, that is someone with money but it feels good to see our country being represented,” said Mr Hakeem Abdul.

“I did not watch the game but after seeing the photo online, I had to watch the repeat with my husband even though half the time I did not understand what was happening,” said Ms Amina Hadiya.
