The Kenyan government has warned of a diplomatic spat with Tanzania after the burning of 6400 chics imported from Kenya.Affairs Political and Diplomatic Secretary Tom Amollo has criticised the move.Amollo has termed the move as a policy shift that tolerates hostile actions against Kenyan interests.Amollo said that the relationship between Kenya and Tanzania could be strained if such measures are taken in future. The Tanzanian High Commissioner Pindi Chana was also summoned by Kenyan foreign officials to discuss 'Tanzania’s unilateral actions on issues affecting the two neighbors' as well as addressing cross-border issues.“Kenya-Tanzania relations are longstanding, rich and complex and should not be jeopardized by a hardening of positions over minor issues that can be easily resolved through candid and open dialogue," said Amollo“There may need to urgently convene the Kenya-Tanzania Joint Border Commissioners/Administrators Committee Meeting to address emerging cross-border issues,” he added. There has been widespread outrage after Tanzania burned the chics over suspicion of carrying the bird flu virus.
