Kenya hockey teams were bartered in Ismailia, Egypt. Their first two games for each team in the Africa Cup of Nations were lost minimizing possibilities of qualifying for World Cup.

Ghana floored women team 2-1 while their male counterparts were whitewashed 4-1 by Egypt at the Suez Canal Authority Hockey Stadium. This leaves the Kenyan teams dependent on results by other nations to step in the finals.

The Ghana lose by Kenyan ladies was a second defeat after a 5-0 humiliation by champions South Africa.

Ladies’ team comprised of Tracy Karanja, Gilly Okumu, Yvonne Karanja, Audrey Omaido, Jane Muragu, Flavia Mutvia, Terry Juma and Caroline Guchu among others. They are coached by Coach Wilson Otieno.

“We controlled the match for large spells but could not bury our chances and got caught out in the end. It is painful to accept this defeat,” Otieno said.

The next hurdle is Nigeria which gives Kenya a chance to win its first match in the tournament.
