The controversial Miguna launched the attack on the mainstream media after two local TV stations 'published fake opinion polls that purported that more Kenyan women support a drug dealer'.

"The mainstream Kenyan media is owned by looters, thieves and cartels. But the assault on women by @KTNNews and @CitizenTVKenya is egregious," Miguna tweeted on Saturday.

He defended women against what he said was a wrong portrayal by the poll of what they truly stand for.

"Kenyan women are decent, God fearing and hardworking. We cannot blame them for the wayward ways of some of their sons," Miguna wrote.

"I can't speak for all mothers. However, I don't remember my mother telling me to grow up and become a thief, land-grabber or drug-dealer," added Miguna.

The opinion poll that Miguna is referring to here, shows that he is the most unpopular candidate among women in Nairobi's gubernatorial race with only 2 per cent.

Current Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko leads the pack with 40 per cent, Governor Evans Kidero follows with 32 per cent while Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru comes third with 11 per cent.

TNA Party Chairman Johnson Sakaja and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru tie at 5 per cent.

Miguna asked the media to be last in "criticizing government excesses fueled by cartels if it was going to campaign for thieves and drug lords.
