[Photo/PSCU]The Kenyan media has been accused of blowing out of proportion the recent diplomatic spat with Tanzania over the confiscation of cattle belonging to Kenyan herders.Tanzania’s permanent secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Investment Prof Adolf Faustine Mkenda in an interview with KBC said that the Kenya media was overplaying what he termed as a small misunderstanding between Kenya and Tanzania. He urged the media to dig deeper and understand the issues before reporting since there is a risk of jeopardizing relations between the two countries further. He defended the actions by his country stating that Kenyan herders had failed to observe cross-border rules as stipulated in Tanzanian laws.Mkenda accused the Kenyan government of not warning its citizens about an order issued by the Tanzanian Government to its neighbors restricting the free movement of alien cattle on their land. There has been outrage from Kenyans after Tanzania auctioned 1000 animals belonging to Kenyan herders.Last week, the situation worsened after Tanzania burned 6000 chicks belonging to Kenya in a bird flu precaution.
