If you want to be financially successful, you have to bear a lot. It’s a journey that requires boldness and hard work. It’s the same story with some of the Kenyan top politicians. They had to bear all difficult situations in slums to live their dreams.
The following list of politicians were born and raised up in slums:
1. Ferdinand Waititu
He is the current governor of Kiambu County. Waititu alias Baba Yao was born on January 1, 1962 to uneducated parents in the sprawling Kibera slums in Nairobi. He completed his secondary school in 1981 from Dagoretti High School, where he obtained the Kenya Certificate of Education.
2. Babu Owino
The Embakasi East Member of Parliament was born in a city slum of Kondele in Kisumu. His mother was a hard-working chang’aa seller. After he passed his primary school education, he got a letter from Mang’u high school but his mother could not afford the school fees. A sponsor took him to Kisumu High School.
3. Alfred Mutua
The current Machakos governor was born and raised in Kibera slums in Nairobi. He dropped out of school in form two due to lack of school fees, but the missionaries later helped him complete his education.
