COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has taken a swipe at the advisors of President Kenyatta, saying they are responsible the ‘bad’ decisions Kenyatta has made.

Speaking to the Standard, Atwoli praised President Kenyatta, saying he has the best interests of the country at heart, only that his advisors fail him.

“I said that our head of state is a good man. He means well for this country, but he lacks good advisers,” he said.

He added: “Once you become powerful, there will be a kitchen cabinet that will always block you from reality to take advantage of your position. But once you are out of power, they would claim that you never took their good advice into consideration,

He also noted that IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati is not prepared to lead to the country in next week’s polls, saying he does not show leadership qualities that the post needs.

His sentiments come a day after Chebukati said he cannot promise a free and fair elections in next week’s polls, due to the political environment.

On the outcome of next week’s polls which Odinga has said  he will not partake, Atwoli said Kenyatta stands a chance of beating Odinga.

“I think he can still win even without rigging. But I wish he was president when men of substance like the late John Michuki and Njenga Karume were alive. They would have sat him down and advised him appropriately,” he added.
