A Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) rugby player was shot dead by unknown people, Monday night, in Kasarani, Nairobi county.
According to Kasarani OCPD Robinson Mboloi, the player identified as James Kilonzo was shot by two armed men.
Kilonzo is said to have gone to withdraw some money from an M-pesa shop when he was shot in the chest.
The gunmen immediately fled the scene without taking anything from him.
“It was around 8.30 pm and the player was walking to his house when the two people shto him and escaped on foot,” Mboloi is quoted by Daily Nation.
Efforts to save his were futile no fruit as the 23-year-old player lost his life while undergoing treatment at St. Francis Community Hospital.
Police have launched investigations into the matter.
Kilonzo had boosted the bankers to Kenya cup and Enterprise Cup Victories last season.
The Kenya Rugby fraternity has mourned the death of the KCB player.
Early this year, another a Homeboyz prop and Kenya Simbas trialist, Andrew Wekesa, was stubbed to death by thugs in Mlolongo.
