A school based in Kenya has emerged among the top 10 employers in Africa.

Bridge International Academies, an international network of schools with its headquarters in  Nairobi emerged top in a survey conducted on 20,000 employees across Africa.

Bridge international shared position 9 with Shell in the research done by Africa Business Magazine.

According to the survey, the employees working with the school indicated their ability to relate to the impact the Academy is making in underprivileged communities

"More interestingly, Bridge International Academies is the only social enterprise named in the top 100 choice employers in Africa," said Africa Business Magazine.

The list is predominantly composed of multinational companies and multilateral organizations including World Bank Group (1), Chevron (2), African Development Bank(ADB) (4), and GE at position 7.Bridge International Academies started its operations in Kenya in 2008 and currently operates schools in Kenya, India, Liberia, Nigeria and Uganda.

However, the schools have attracted controversy after the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) published a report requesting the government to shut down the institutions due to their "unfit" education model.
