A Kenyan student was on Sunday arrested by Indian authorities after being found in possession of drugs.

Elijah Malcom Onyango was arrested with narcotic substances estimated to be about Sh3.8 million in Canacoma during a search by anti narcotics police.

Anti-narcotics police boss in Canacona, PI Rajendra Prabhudessai speaking to the media said Kenyan national was arrested at the entrance of the Palolem beach early Sunday morning following a tip off from members of the public.

The police also said Onyango will be charged with illegal possession of commercial quantity of 10.49 gms of Cocaine, 20 ecstasy tablets and two perforated sheets (LSD).

Onyango lives in Kolhapur in Maharashtra, and comes from Suna, Migori county in Kenya. Indian police confiscated a cell phone, an internet modem and his wallet with cash of Rs 2200. 

According to diaspora news.com Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Panjim were yet to contact the Kenyan embassy in Delhi over his arrest.
