Kenyan international Michael Olunga will be joining Spanish La Liga side Girona FC on a loan deal from his current Chinese Super League side Guizhou Zhicheng.
Olunga has been processing a transfer back to European football after a not so stellar season at Guizhou Zhicheng.
The 23-year-old was relegated to the reserve team after the appointment of head coach Gregorio Manzano who brought in two Spaniards Mario Suarez and Ruben Castro.
Olunga was further hit by the Chinese league's decision to revise the foreign players quota policy to four players.
At the reserve team, the former Gor Mahia player became ineligible to play in the junior league till December 31, 2017 in accordance with the Chinese’ cross-competition laws.
Olunga's managers at the Global Soccer Management (GSM) have also been processing a possible transfer to French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon who have expressed interest in the forward.
“Kenyan striker Olunga has been linked to a move to the Catalan
club. His representative (Blash Hossein) was last Saturday in Montilivi
to witness their match against Malaga. The agreement could come in the
form of a season-long loan deal,” the Spanish website
Marca.com
reported.
The Spanish team is based in Girona and was founded in July 1930.
