A Kenyan woman is facing first degree computer crime charges in the US for allegedly defrauding the University of Connecticut (UConn).
39-year-old Muthaini Nzuki, who was naturalised to be a US citizen back in 2010 is said to have ripped-off the Georgia-based university a whole $773,079.35 (about Sh70 million).
According to reports from UConn police, that Nzuki posed as an employee of Dell Computers and opened a fake Dell account which she then synced with the University’s bank account using the Dell tax Federal ID.
It is said that she then diverted all Dell computer invoices to her account which was opened 32 separate times as reported by police.
She is said to have then travelled to Paris then Kenya and finally gone back to Atlanta.
The court charged her of first degree larceny and first degree computer crimes with a Sh5 million bond.
