Nasa leader Raila Odinga's visit to Zimbabwe on Monday started on a dramatic note after a section of Kenyans accused Zimbabwean opposition leader of humiliating the former prime minister.

Odinga flew to Harare to attend the burial of his close friend and political ally Morgan Tsvangirai, who was the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

Upon landing,  the Nasa leader was received by acting MDC deputy president Nelson Chamisa who later shared a photo on his Twitter account - announcing the arrival of the Kenyan delegation.

The tweet drew controversy as Chamisa referred to Odinga as "Kenya's mzee" - much to the anger of Kenyans on Twitter who have recently accustomed to the Nasa leader being referred to as "His Excellency the people's president".

"At the Airport to welcome President MT’s Friend Kenya’s Mzee Raila Odinga.Mzee will be paying his last respects to his dear Friend & Cde DR. MT at Humanikwa Village in Buhera tomorrow morning#tsvangiraithelegend," the MDC leader stated.

Most of those who reacted expressed disappointment with Chamisa's reference to Odinga as "mzee".

The title mzee is often used as a respectful title for an elder but it also carries the meaning of an old man.

"That is the official President of Kenya," Ali Deq responded.

"You messed 🙄🙄🙄 its H.E Raila Amollo Odinga...is our Able President here in Kenya, not mzee," Winnie Ogenche offered a correction.

Another user,  Japheth Odonya, observed, "Yeah you know he is junior let us forgive him if it was the late Morgan himself he wouldn't have forgotten to refer to the President with his correct title of H.E the President".

Edwin Hovi quipped, "That's peoples president...not mzee. U should know the real title.that's our father of democracy here in Kenya."

Other users,  however,  were happy with the relationship between the Kenyan and Zimbabwean Opposition leaders.

"One thing I like about @RailaOdinga is that he is a true friend who has been with us thru our struggles from time to time... We thank u for coming... #RIPMorganTsvangirai," Tgkatondo said.

"The two of you has proven that it has never been about u but your people, @RailaOdinga keeping standing for youth to make @mrtsvangirai legacy live. Soon and very soon you're in Africa will take control of their lives. #changewillcome," one Zimbabwean noted.
