The Kenya Red Cross Society has urged Kenyans to donate water, milk, bread, biscuits, glucose and soda in support of families affected by the Naivasha tanker explosion that killed 41 people on Saturday night.
He said non-food items such as disposable cups, lunch boxes, serviettes, trash bags, sanitizers, plates and folks will also be needed.
The donations can be delivered at Chiromo Mortuary where families and friends of the victims were waiting for the identification of bodies of their loved ones.
The society's head of corporate affairs Anthony Mwangi said the donations can also be sent to Pay Bill Number: 10000, Account Name: 'Naivasha', inform of financial assistance.
“We have deployed staff and 25 volunteer counselors at Chiromo Mortuary to offer first aid, psycho social counseling and assist in tracing missing persons, the bereaved will go through pre-viewing and post viewing counseling offered by our counselors and the Amani counseling center. Already 57 have received psycho-social support ,” said Mwangi.
He added 36 cases of missing persons had been recorded at the tracing and information desk.
The National Disaster Management Unit, National Disaster Operation Center, Kenya Police, St John’s aAmbulance, Amani Counseling Center are some of the organizations that are offering support to the families at the Chiromo Mortuary.
