Kenyans have been challenged to join the government in keeping the country secure through the community policing initiative.
Community Policing Chairman Aggrey Adoli while addressing a press conference in Garissa on Tuesday said that the misconception among Kenyans that police are the only people who should deal with security matters has slowed down the government's fight on insecurity and terror. "Community Policing is the role of every citizen who understands that for the country and themselves to move forward, security is critical. No security, no development," said Adoli.
He noted that North Eastern region has vast wealth but local communities have remained poor due to insecurity and general instability. "There are a lot of unexploited resources in this place but investors and explorers are afraid of coming here due to insecurity," he added.
He promised that his team was going to set camp in the region to sensitise residents on community policing and its importance.
