Kenyans have expressed disappointment following Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu’s directive to shut down two city hotels and spared one belonging to the deputy president William Ruto.

Mailu on Wednesday announced the closure of Jacaranda and Valencia hotels over cholera outbreak.

The cs’s list however did not include Ruto’s Weston hotel which was the first hotel where cholera outbreak was reported, last month.

Kenyans were left wondering why Weston hotel was not closed despite confirmed cholera cases.

A section of them took to social media to express their displeasure following Mailus ‘biased’ directive.

Below are some reactions from KoT:

@skgjnr: Impunity is when Health CS Mailu closes SanValencia & Jacaranda hotels but lets Weston operate because it belongs to DP Ruto #CholeraNairobi

@tyke3: #CholeraNairobi so Jacaranda and San Valencia hotels are closed but Weston remains untouched! Lanes my fren, lanes

@Kelvinkalz1: #CholeraNairobi and instead of mailu closing Weston hotel he closes vibandas which av never heard any chase of cholera

@NASA_Ke: Jacaranda & San Valencia have been unfairly targeted for closure due to #CholeraNairobi outbreak. We demand immediate closure of WESTON too!

@Waambui: Maybe Health CS Mailu is only closing those hotels that have no license to spread cholera. Weston Hotel must be having one. #CholeraNairobi

@skgjnr: So @WilliamsRuto Weston hotel can continue spreading cholera endangering peoples lives but go unmentioned? #KickJubileeOut #CholeraNairobi

@skgjnr: Health CS Mailu is as corrupt as they come, why exclude Weston hotel from closure when it had majority cholera casualties? #CholeraNairobi

@agot_bonface: Power corrupts. CS Mailu orders closure of Jacaranda & San Valencia hotels. Weston Hotel, the genesis of #CholeraNairobi is untouched.

@cajose_mutheu: Why is CS Mailu not closing Weston hotel #CholeraNairobi

adanwano: #CholeraNairobi, someone is eliminating competition at all cost yet the first case was at Weston.”
