A section of Kenyans on social media have called on the government to help the 2007/2008 post-election violence victims to get justice.
This comes after the International Criminal Court (ICC) ruled that the suspects who were alleged to have played a key role in post-election violence, former Kass FM radio journalist, Joshua Arap Sang and Deputy President William Ruto had no case to answer.
Some Kenyans expressed their hard feelings about the ruling saying that the ICC had failed to fight for the victims.
One Kenyan on Twitter by the name Saddique Shaban tweeted, ‘‘seeing most suspects are in position of power, who will guarantee justice for victims of murderous African regimes? Fate, God or the ICC? None!’’
CORD leader, Raila Odinga also tweeted, ‘‘we now hope the victims will receive long overdue justice in the form of reparations from government.’’
CCTV journalist, Ramah Nyang, took on his Twitter as well to comment on the issue.
‘‘What justice is there is there for those maimed, injured, raped, killed in the post-election –violence? None? Shall they accept and move on?’’ read his tweet.
The Kibera MP, Ken Okoth posted on his Facebook page, ‘’justice for victims through reparation is something we can do. The victims are here, let’s do right by them.’’
