If Kibera roads were to have a language and a mouth to air out its concerns, it would issue a life time ban on politicians from flocking the area in their times of need.
It would complain that Kenya has other slum areas to warrant them a break from the ever offensive political charms smeared with dishonesty, and greed.
Any time the government wants to launch a political project, Kibera slums is awarded the first slot. Be it the launch of a new political party or the launch of a nationwide demonstration as is the case with the current opposition, the first stop-over is the Kamukunji Grounds.
When security experts predict of violence in Nairobi, the first station to summon security troops is the Olympic area. Police are sent with the right anti-riot gear and fully armed to the tooth. Chances are also high that a police officer might be stoned to death or a youthful resident shot dead by the Embakasi-trained cops.
For those who might discard this as lies, just flash back and remind yourself of the last anti IEBC protests. The police were summoned to block the youthful protesters before they could reach the city.
Recently, the Jubilee government offered the slum residents with better housing at a subsidised fee. What happened? The beneficiaries are allegedly reported to have leased out the houses to enjoy the ironical cool breeze in their slum environment.
With this in mind, it is undoubtedly evident that Kenyans are obsessed with Kibera.
