Angry Kenyans have called for the disbandment of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
This follows a deadly crash at the Migaa area Sunday morning where more than 30 people died.
The deceased perished after a bus crashed head on with an oncoming trailer.
" NTSA should be disbanded. It has failed in its mandate," George Kamau said.
"NTSA, Transport CS and PS should be sent home immediately, " Kung'u wa Mugueru also posted.
Netizens feel that the authority has been unable to tame carnage on our roads.
Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika had also called for the disbandment.
"Kenyans have of late vented their anger on the mandate of NTSA management and the uncharacteristic manner they continue to carry on with business amid the rising cases of fatalities on our roads. NTSA cuts the image of an arrogant institution that is insensitive to the concerns of Kenyans," Kihika said. She said the authority has not met what Kenyans expdcted.
"The National Government established NTSA five years ago and charged it with the responsibility of ensuring responsible driving, ending corruption on roads particularly at known black spots, cleaning the driving licence cartels by cutting bureaucracy and creating efficiency through stakeholder involvement. Half a decade on, NTSA appears to have failed on its functions. An appraisal of the many fatalities witnessed on our roads reveals a deplorable performance of this institution that is at variance with the public expectations," Kihika added.
