Kenyans living in the Diaspora reacted angrily to the latest news by the US Embassy in Kenya that it will now take 30 days to get a visa to the US.
Most of them saw this as another measure by the Trump administration to frustrate Kenyans who want to visit and do business with US.
They called for a review of Visa fees to allow more Kenyans travel to the US from the current USD 170.
Daniel Odhiambo who lives in Texas said his relatives were preparing to apply for the document for them to attend his wedding but will now have to wait longer.
According to him, granting of a US Visa was an uncertain experience and has a lot of anxiety, a fact that makes many Kenyans shy away.
Even the one week waiting period for an interview is usually long.
A businessman, John Ndung'u, said his sister was to come in November this year and he was no longer sure she would get a visa considering the new development.
He claimed the current visa fees were relatively high considering that US visas were relatively popular.
Josephine Atieya from New York said the promise of direct flights that were to commence this year has delayed almost on a month.
The move is aimed to avoid unnecessary delays according to the US Embassy Press Attaché, Fiona Evans.
The US visa appointments will take up to 30 days from application due to the seasonal demand for visas and the rotation of consular staff that does affect the wait time for interviews at the US Embassy during some periods of the year, including the months of June, July and August, she said.
