Speaking ahead of thanks giving celebrations on Sunday at Nyambaria High School which topped the region in 2015 KCSE exams, the delegation, led by Ben Nyangw’ara challenged members of political class to support Matiangi in bringing radical reforms in the education ministry.

“As Kenyans in the US, we want to thank Fred Matiang’i for his significant reforms in the education sector. He has shown the will and what remains now is political support to realize quality education in our institutions,” he said.

“What makes us adore his leadership style is that he speaks his mind. He is an academician and certainly his input will bring fundamental changes to the sector which had started losing relevance. The few months he has been in office, he has shown the ability to reform education,” Nyangw’ara added.

They warned politicians from castigating him in his bid to bring sanity in the education and challenged top Cord and Jubilee leadership to support him.

“We know he may face challenges when he eventually touches those cartels in the ministry, but it’s important that both top leadership in Cord and Jubilee supports him. He comes from a minority community (Gusii) and that could be his undoing,” added James Makini of Yale University.

They also backed Matiang’i for Nyamira gubernatorial seat saying his combination with Dr Matunda Nyanchama will transform Nyamira County economically.

“It’s our wish that he goes for Nyamira gubernatorial seat. He understands reforms perhaps he can change our county if he joins hands with Dr Nyanchama. They are absolutely superb,” said Nyangwara.

Recently, Matiangi dissolved Kenya National Examination Council Board of massive examination irregularities recorded in 2015.
