CK is pictured in the company of Radio Africa Group’s chair Kiprono Kittony, but the frail and weak look of the multibillionaire has left more questions than answers.

Many users sent their messages of comfort, wishing Mr Kirubi a quick recovery. We understand that Kirubi jetted back into the country after undergoing specialized treatment in the United States.

The flamboyant businessman has been abroad from November last year after being diagnosed with cancer.

A user  @OdeoSirari wrote: "Jesus taught us to be compassionate. Tonight I pray for Chris Kirubi. Amidst the insensitive way your past is being discussed at this difficult time, I bring to you the gift of compassion from Christ. May it help to ease your pain and suffering."

@zecky_obonyo said: "I still believe that no one has the moral authority to celebrate another person's tribulations since vengeance is 4 the Lord, let's all intercede 4 @CKirubi if it's true he is ailing. May God's healing power be upon him and all of us who aren't feeling well too. It shall be well "

Earlier on, a couple of influential figures had bashed the business mogul over an alleged theft of public money, which according to them was a contributor to Kirubi's sorry health.

@bonifacemwangi said: "I have ZERO compassion for people who steal from public coffers and destroy lives. Marriages dissolved, people lost property, loved ones, children dropped out of school after breadwinners lost jobs in Kenatco and Uchumi. Economic thieves should rot in jail and hell. Amen."

@RobertAlai wrote "After looting billions from KENATCO, Uchumi and KQ, Colon Cancer is what is taking Kirubi to the grave and he knows it. Without a single cent. Sad. He came back to Kenya to hand over his wealth to a trust as he continues to get his treatment in the US. Impact lives. Don’t loot!"

@DavidOsiany  tweeted: "I know that with #NairobiRains one would feel terrible that Chris Kirubi built his Two Rivers Mall on a Wetland. However, death & pain are tragedies we shouldn't even wish our worst enemies. I pray that CK regains his full health, reflects abt the past & rights all wrongs. Godspeed"
