It is no secret that Kenyans love elections. Perhaps even more than any other nation under the sun. We literally start planning for the next election immediately we are done with one. To prove my point, 2017 elections seem to be the trending topic among a majority of us.

With each passing day, we get closer and closer to the D-day. Some people have already made their intentions to vie for the various seats known. 'Silent campaigns' are already underway.

Over and over we have chosen the wrong leaders and paid a hefty price for it. We spend the next 5 years complaining not realizing that the damage has already been done. It’s time that Nakuru set the pace for the rest of the nation to follow.

Let us vote for people who will bring positive change. Let merit be the ‘marking scheme’ rather than tribe and/or party. Those that will campaign on tribal or party lines ought to be shunned away. It is such people that insight and divide people and eventually cause war. They are not leaders but misleaders.

The leaders whom we all know to be corrupt and incompetent must not get another term in office as they will only embezzle more of the public funds.

Truth is, we the grass root mwananchis hold the power. Is it not us who put the poor leaders in office? We should, therefore, decide to choose better leaders this time. Let’s not take bribes or tolerate ‘sooth sayers.’ Come 2017 lets exercise that power for the good of the county. Let us hear every candidate out and judge for ourselves who is worthy and who is not.We have over a year to decide. Let’s choose wisely!
