Chandaria, speaking on Wednesday on local TV, said that what happened during 2007/2008 post-election violence should not be allowed to happen again.

He warned the opposition Cord against inciting people into violence saying that they will be on their own.

"We had enough violence in 2007/2008 and I think that is total a lesson. I don't think the people of Kenya are prepared to do it again," said Chandaria.

He, however, said that the opposition have the right to picket and call for peaceful demonstrations as long as they do not cause deaths and property destruction.

"If better organised and with better understanding people can express their views and if I like you I elect you, and if I like that one I go for them," Chandaria said.

"As long as we allow democratic rights of individuals to survive, I would not worry. Kenya's roots are strong for it to fall just like that," he added.

He also asked the youths who are mostly abused by politicians to meet their selfish ends to 'look for opportunities around them to engage in to create Kenya and not to destroy it'.

"Get activities to get engaged in even if it is garbage collection or voluntary work. My argument is, a person who sits at home for five years doing nothing becomes nothing," the renowned philanthropist said.
