It took the intervention by Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja of Jubilee to have Embakasi east MP Babu Owino released from Parklands Police.
Babu had been arrested for allegedly punishing a parking attendant in Westlands.
Sakaja stood by Babu Owino terming the alleged offense as petty.
“This is a petty offense. I don’t agree with it and I will stand for him. I am staying here until Babu is released,” said Sakaja.
After his release, Kenyans took to social media to express their views. Here is a selection of some of the comments.
@thomskan82 : Hon. Sakaja's concern was how Hon. Babu was arrested. It wasn't right. Sakaja thinks and acts independently.
@SamRugo: Is Sakaja above the law now? Kenya is really a wild wild west now.
@Pastor_Fro: Hehe... #RealTalk Sakaja looks like Babu's Dad in that photo. Reminds me of when Parents used to come to pick us after a high-school suspension.
@Harrytilla: government arresting people with no wrongs committed. Kenya under uhuruto. Pathetic
@Sam94487102: Sakaja did it again; wise guy...Raila n weta trying to intimidate police instead of using legal means for his release.
@Mr.reliable: We love u hon @SakajaJohnson
@PeterTasha:Sakaja comes back home. You belong to NASA, not JUBILEE
@MututaHalifax : Sakaja! I don't think so!
@Kamachago1: Senator, tell the MP to be careful and respect the Law of the Land.
@mark_mwitThis the kind of leaders we want Raila was chest thumping and making a lot of useless noise
