Suna East Member of Parliament, Junet Mohamed has been arrested.It is however not yet clear why the ODM Director of Elections was arrested.He confirmed the arrest, through his twitter account, Friday morning, saying: "I am under arrest at Homa bay police station.."
Junet who is a strong supporter of Raila Odinga, and the Nasa alliance, on Wednesday released a poll finding, indicating that Odinga, who is the Nasa presidential candidate, would beat President Uhuru Kenyatta. in the August 8, polls.
"This poll does not reflect the reality on the ground. We commissioned our own internal poll by a credible and reputable international firm as NASA and the figures are 56 per cent for our flagbearer Raila Odinga and 41 per cent for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Star poll is just a reflection of a certain section of people depending on the size of respondents reached and cannot be conclusive. Our pollster covered every county and subcounty to arrive at results showing Raila is leading Uhuru with a huge margin," read part of the statement on the pollster, published by a local daily, July 19, 2017.
Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga, said she was heading to the station, to demand answers as to why Junet was arrested.
"Let's meet at Homabay Police Station to demand answers on Hon Junet's arrest. Intimidation tactics by a failed regime is unacceptable!" twitted Wanga.
