A Facebook post by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has continued to elicit mixed reactions among Kenyans on social media.

In the Sunday post, Kuria noted that he had treated primary school pupils in Gatundu Town to a surprise shopping spree for books and stationeries.

“Yesterday I treated all primary school students in Gatundu Town with a surprise shopping spree for school books and other materials. Every kid within the town took home an exercise book, pens, pencils, a textbook and a geometrical set. What a fulfilling day it was. Wacha watoto wasome sasa,” posted the MP.

“PR show, I thought that learning materials are available at school,” posted Cagri Sen.

“The textbooks seem old/second hand,” said Baba Ryan.

“Back to 1963 after independence when Kenyans were beggars waiting for leaders to feed them. Can't we grow economy for Kenyans to become self-sufficient and provide for their families,” said Thiong’o wa Gichuhi.

“Ngai Moses Kuria this is what we can afford as parents baada ya kuuza nduma and you call this surprise,” wrote George Jesus.

“Handshake has really changed you... U now know actions speak louder than useless words of politics. NASA or Jubilee, Gatundu is UA best,” said Fuchii Lion II.

“Which shopping Mheshimiwa are you talking about?” asked Obunga Sange.

“Now I understand how u got re-elected without campaigning, you’re a true leader,” posted Chege Gerald.

“This is foolishness. Lack of financial prudence. It was not philanthropy but misuse of CDF money thus we need this facility scrapped. Populist politics,” said Tony On.

“I witnessed as I was coming for Ituru boys, where you also offered lunch for all students, thank God bless you abundantly,” posted Leephan Lymod.

“Next time, you can do it in a more organised manner. Good job,” said Kal Nina.

“Total PR even in National schools learning materials are given to students for free,” said Abdalla Alberto Senior.

“You just doing nothing rooting our taxes we know national government caters for all those. Punda amechoka,” said Elijah Mwangi.
