The nomination of opposition leader Raila Odinga's brother Oburu Odinga to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) has elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans. Oburu and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's son, Kennedy Musyoka are among 12 nominees proposed by Nasa for the EALA posts.

Raila's older brother lost the Gem parliamentary seat in the August 8 general election. Below are some divided opinions from a section of Twitter users;@abdikadirFM said, "At 83, Oburu Odinga is the most qualified NASA candidate for EALA. Youths are indeed leaders of tomorrow, donge?"@Asamoh_ noted, "The characters who are urging Dr. Oburu to retire celebrated the nomination of Beth Mugo 81 by @jubileepartyKe to senate. A bunch of hypocrites."@Stevechegejr wrote, "Raila forwards the name of his brother OBURU ODINGA to the EALA Nomination list. Oburu Odinga is 80 years and wants to represent the YOUTH in the EALA. Wonders shall never End!!!""Well I'm not hating, but to be honest, Oburu does not fit to represent 'YOUTHS' in EALA, didn't they have someone younger to represent youths?" @Kayeli_ asked. "Lets bury our heads in the sand and applaud NASA for appointment of Oburu . Well done." @kngunjiri said. @ProfOnyangoJohn wrote, "Oburu Odinga's selfish interest is slowing down the dreams of a united front of NRM. He shouldn't ride on Raila Odinga to get personal mileage."@Olivemaingik noted, "Me have no problem with Oburu Odinga representing the youths in EALA all I could ask is the criteria used even to pick the likes of Beth Mugo. Youths we've no place in this country, am sad😢."

@Josholuga said, "Wondering why Oburu is trending...So its about his age and not about any recalled degree or some heist he has pulled somewhere..hehe."

@collinsoleche noted, "I don't even know what #EALA members do neither do i understand how presence or absence of Oburu n Kennedy affect me."
