Proceeding at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani during JamuhurI Day celebrations. [Photo/the-star.co.ke]On Tuesday during the Jamuhuri Day celebrations, many Kenyans snubbed the ceremony held at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.
The event was moved from Nyayo Stadium to Kasarani with the government arguing that the venue was bigger.
However, Kenyans online gave mixed reactions following the development.
About to weeks ago, the same venue was filled beyond capacity during President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration.
A number of Kenyans argued that the inaugration was a party affair.
Here are some of the reactions.
amerix Dear @RailaOdinga, today would have been your day. The empty Kasarani Stadium is a pointer that the people were waiting for you today. You lost yet another perfect opportunity to deflate Uhuru's ego. Sorry!!@sgoriaro48 That crowd at Kasarani Stadium could fit at Ruto's Sugoi home or Uhuru's Gatundu. Next time please don't misuse public property. #EmptyKasarani #JamhuriDay #NotYetJamhuri@SaddiqueShaban So, patriots and nationalists have not been bussed and ferried to kasarani Stadium for #JamhuriDay ? Empty Stadium means what, Uhuru's inauguration was a party affair, not a national occasion?@morogasenior MoKasarani stadium Lols, wn we tell them the minority are clinging on power, they think we are wrong@Segem_Junior The emptiness at Kasarani stadium depicts the emptiness Jubilee Government has fulfilled in the last term. This should be a pointer to Uhuru Kenyatta that things are not OKAY!@TheLoyalist_KE 1 hoAlot Of Empty Seats At Kasarani Stadium Even After Governor Ferdinand Waititu Offered To Hire About 250 Vehicles To Ferry People From Kiambu To Attend The Event #JamhuriDay@snitchsandy MoSo, Kasarani stadium looks like a dowry ceremony, almost empty.
