The meeting was meant to touch on the fruits of devolution and way forward to see devolution bring further development in the country.

Kenyans on learning this reacted in ways that showed president Kenyatta's decision wasn't right. Below are samples of some tweets about the matter;

@lord_tiller: Due to bad weather?........so the weather in Kakamega is bad only for Uhuru Kenyatta

@DeltaFrce: Wow, here comes the craziness, bad weather in reference to flying or the state of our pathetic roads.

@nevz_dajissa: He has not skipped it due to bad weather but due to his ingenuity and lack of commitment to a course that he and his corrupt Deputy are and have always been against.That's Wassup!

@KelvinM609: Am still wondering how the president maneuvered in London but fails to attend the conference giving a video graphed speech.

@nevz_dajissa: It is akin to someone failing to show up at work because of floods yet the funds meant to construct drainage systems ends up in the of few corrupt individuals.What an irony!

@hezekiah_oruaru: bad weather my foot.He has never been serious in performing his duties.

@Samuel_Kombe: Not a must to appear physically. Let's embrace digitization. Kudos Mr president.

@Mbotarota: I bet if he was flying out he wouldn't have missed despite the weather

@BaldAlways254: The usual bad manners. Do we really have a president? But if was electoral fraud weather would not be a hindrance. Universities are closed for months but nobody cares..May be it is because of bad weather. The govt in an embarrassment.

@Nikes2017: "Bad Weather?? Naaaah the man refused to attend the conference pure and simple. The weather has never been enough reason/Excuse for anything not to be done.

@JNjerii: Is that not an excuse,,,,we're facing the same thing and we attend our duties...

@Orindovicky: It's quite obvious that Mr kenyatta do not buy to the idea of devolution
