After the State of Nation address by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, the DP took to social media forums and apologised to his competitors.

"In keeping with President Uhuru Kenyatta's statement, I William Ruto, unreservedly apologise to anyone offended or hurt in any way by what I said or done before." he wrote.

And on twitter, Kenyans had a mixed reaction to his unprecedented move with some praising him for courage.

"This is what he needed the most. He had created a number of enemies from within and even out," said Joseph Kisiangani.

Ibrahim Mohammed said: "This is timely given how people were radicalised due to his political utterances."

But some took him head on and vowed that they will not mind despite the good gesture from the DP.

"The best thing he could do is coming out public over several scandals among them land grabbing that he has been linked to," said Joseph Munyao.
