In a Facebook post on Sunday, Kuria said Kenyans will vote for the referendum in the upcoming 2022 general election.

The MP further stated that changes passed in the referendum will be effected in 2027.

"In the 2022 General Elections there will be 7 ballot boxes- President, Governor, Senator, Women Rep, MP, MCA and Referendum. Any constitutional changes passed at that referendum will take effect in 2027. This will be the practice in all future General Elections. Donge?" posted Kuria.

The post attracted the following reactions:

George Njuguna Snr: "Wanasiasa Mmezoea Wakenya Sana. The change we should be talking about is that of Merging Gatundu North and South and other close constituencies. We are over represented. To make matters worse, it's the hyenas guarding the lambs. #so_sad."

Zack Kìnùthia: "Who are you to conflict with your master? He said no change will happen, including change of corruption ideals. Take your seat as the beholden slave, and sing songs of reverence to the master. After all, isn't the fate of Slaves sealed?"

John Muhoho: "We need fewer MPs, no MCAs, No Senators, No women reps, fewer Governors etc. The political class is milking this country dry. We also need a prime minister's post for inclusivity, peace, and harmony.....God bless Kenya."

Elena Gachomo: "We are the ones with voter's cards, and those ballots can be reduced before 2022 ..we too think! That constitution to reduce the ballot should come faster before we incur more debts due to greedy ones!"

Meshack Kamau: "Moses, what happened to your "punda amechoka" drive? 7 again? You were to do away with women rep, and reduce the number of representatives. Kenyans are over represented. Ama ilikuwa for countering Okoa Kenya initiative?"

Kijana Stevie Nderi: "But Moses Kuria you're a brilliant one. I gave up on opposing you despite disagreeing on some of your ideologies. I can confidently say that the only referendum Kenya needs is your Punguza Mzigo or a hybrid of the same with aspects of the Bomas Katiba that was altered."

Nelson Matini: "After 2022...billions of money will be used to pay governors, assistant governors, senator, women rep, county speakers and county civil servants....Moses kuria hutajua hujui.....we shall be having eurobond 7 na madeni lazima tulipe."

Kamuiru Wa Makumi: "Keenly following, but the referendum should not wait till 2022 on excuse of 'lack of funds' while billions from NYS coffers ends up in someone's pocket."

Simon Wanaruona: "Kwani referendum ita fanyiwa na pesa yako??? We are demanding a referendum to cut wage bill you have been drunk with power until you can't realize the country is suffering."

Jycob Moegi: "I don't trust this man (#moses kuria) while clarifying this because he is a watermelon. (As in Bwana Kuria you don't have your own opinion and stand also)."

Mathew Njau: "And I hope that it would be wise to leave ballot box number 7 alone... Hatuhitaji hiyo mheshimiwa."
