Social media users have condemned a suspected assassination attempt targeting vocal Homabay Women Representative Gladys Wanga and her Kisii counterpart Janet Ong’era.
The two allegedly had the vehicle they were using sprinkled with bullets and teargas canisters by suspected policemen.
And news about the suspected assassination dominated various Whatsap forums in Gusii with users condemning the event.
Vincent Osumo said in Nyamira ODM Youth: “Jubilee now turns to intimidation of our leaders and this is completely unacceptable.”
At Gusii County politics, Erick Machuka added: “It is wrong to try to assassinate our leaders. Kenya is a democratic state.”
But Jared Momanyi welcomed the news saying that the rule of law should be adhered to at all times by times.
On her Facebook page, Ong’era condemned the incident and vowed to continue pushing for reforms in the IEBC.
“We cannot be cowed and we shall continue pushing for what is right.” she said adding that they will ensure Raila Odinga takes over.
