[Photo/Thestar]Kenyans took to social media to express their frustrations after the government said there will not be there any more subsidized maize flour.Speaking to a local media house on Tuesday, Agriculture CS Willy Bett said the country has enough maize grains to fully serve Kenyans.He further added that normalcy is slowly returning, and there is no need of importing maize.“The local crop is now available and is being supplied to national cereals and produce board,” he said.The government anticipates an increase of between 15 and Sh20 by the end of this week.“During this intervening period when the transition is happening, we might see a little bit of subsidized flour,” added Bett.The move has not been well received by consumers across the country, whose staple food is the famous white flour.Many have accused the government of duping them using the subsidized flour, saying it was only used as a campaign tool.Eddy Mahmoud on his Facebook page wrote: Government officially withdraws maize subsidies today.
