The Moi girls High school, Nairobi is yet again in the headlines after a girl was reportedly raped by an intruder in the school. In 2017 September several girls died after fire razed the school.
Angry Kenyans took to social media to express the displeasure on the sad happening with some taking the battle to the current school Principal Jael Mureithi.
Education CS Mrs Amina Mohamed directed that students from the school will proceed to an early midterm starting Sunday morning, she said the students will be at home for at least 1 week to allow them to overcome the horrible ordeal.
Here is what Kenyans said
The Moi Girls school rape tragedy shows how women leaders are vague on matters that need seriousness remember the Kenyatta hospital rape incident apart from issuing press statement and storming the promises nothing much happened #MoiGirls— kimanga son (@JoshuaMurish) June 3, 2018.
This is not a matter for only Women. It's a matter that should concern all Kenyans and especially any Kenyan who is a parent. The Principal of Moi Girls School Nairobi has proved incompetent and unable to cater for welfare of our children. Over to you Amb @AMB_A_Mohammed https://t.co/KeLFNMetPw— Richard Kathuka (@RKathuka) June 3, 2018.
what is amina going to inspect in moi girls her regime is already failing...if our students cannot be assured of protection while in school then means the ministry has no countermeasures for such actions....the principle should be on leave by now and the rapists on book.— pita bruce (@PitaBruce) June 3, 2018.
Moi girls Moi girls. A child has been raped yet the administration doesn't have the courtesy to even contact parents. Ati protecting the schools name kosokoso. Is this the same principal who was there during the fire incident?— T (@T_Gathoni) June 3, 2018.
There’s something fundamentally wrong with the people charged with the responsibility of caring for the students at Moi Girls, and especially after school hours.— So now? (@oreo_junkie) June 3, 2018.
The fact that the Moi Girls Nairobi school administration decided to try and hide the raping of the innocent girls and even go on to silently bribe them with scholarship shows how unsafe boarding schools have become and how GBV is kept alive.#PhaseoutBoardingSchools— Phidiliah Mwawasi (@PhidiliahM) June 3, 2018.
The Moi Girls Principal and every senior management at that school should go! We should march there and make sure they are all gone. These people are are protected. Are our girls? 💔— Savanna addict. (@Ninanyce) June 3, 2018.
