The Record was previously held by Paula Radiciffe.
In the men's race Kenya’s Daniel Wanjiru emerged victorious ahead of Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele.
Wanjiru won the race in 2 hours, 05 minutes and 49 seconds.
Former two times World marathon champion Abel Kirui came in fourth.
It was Wanjiru’s first major victory having won Amsterdam marathon last year.
