Kenyans have been notorious when it comes to criticising the things that are done by politicians whether good or bad. Insults are hurled to the political leaders and they are told off and accused of playing cheap publicity stunts.

Recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta toured a village in Kiambu County to inspect rural electrification project, and in one of his stops, he met a family that had been privileged to get electricity in their home.

Instead of lauding the progress of work being undertaken, a tirade of insults were hauled at the president.

Deputy President William Ruto on the other hand had a stop at a mud village hotel in Maili Tisa, Uasin Gishu County and had lunch with the locals and paid for those who were eating from the joint.

However, the deputy president received a backlash for trying to get in touch with the people at the grass root levels. Other leaders have also been insulted for getting a one on one touch with their residents.

Leaders like Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has been attacked for helping people in Nairobi County overcome hurdles in life.

Kenyans should however be content on what they receive from the political leaders. The good things done by political leaders are always rare and should be content and praise in order to encourage them.

The constant insults and backlash will not do the public any good and the politicians are also human beings who are motivated by good compliments from the public.

This will improve the one on one contact between the political leaders and the wananchi.
