Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi on Monday appeared before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), where he was grilled over the loss of Sh51million county funds.
Kingi was accompanied by some of his supporters as well as ODM Party leaders among them Siaya Senator James Orengo, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Kilifi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo and Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra.
However, Kenyans on Twitter, commonly known as KOT, condemned the leaders for accompanying Kingi to the EACC headquarters at Integrity Center.
Immediately after Kingi and his allies arrived at the EACC offices, their images surfaced on social media platforms with a number of Kenyans accusing ODM leaders of supporting suspected perpetrators of corruption.
“Hope the supporters escorting Kingi to EACC in solidarity also get to dine and wine with him when he is enjoying their hard earned cash,” wrote @Oscarkinoti
@wahomegyan asked, “Did Kilifi Governor Kingi misappropriate funds with ODM Party members? Why accompany him to EACC as a hero and make it a party issue?”
“Arriving with a squad to EACC means you feel feel guilty for something. Amason Kingi, respect government institutions,” wrote @RickDaGenius.
EACC summoned the governor to shed more light on the disappearance of millions of shillings that were set aside for development projects across the county.
