Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has accused kenyans of electing corrupt leaders.
Speaking during the national Elections Conference that ended on Wedensday, Tobiko and other heads of various institutions said Kenyans got the type of leaders they want.
“Do we really, as voters, pay regard to integrity? Why do we vote those facing charges then turn around and blame state agencies”? Asked Tobiko.
In what can be seen as throwing in the towel in the quest to have political candidates with questionable integrity barred, the state agencies have left the electorate to weed out leaders who do not meet certain requirements.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission chair Eliud Wabkukala echoed Tobiko’s sentiments, telling the electorate to use the power vested on them to make the right choices.
The three-day conference brought together different agencies, with particularly IEBC on the spot as they prepare to conduct the August elections.
The commission promised to deliver on its mandate, highlighting the implementation of voter audit report and putting in place a reliable technology for the elections.
Commission chair Wafula Chebukati asked for trust and support from all political players, saying he faith in his team.
