National Assembly leader of Majority Aden Duale has said that Kenyans will have to pay for the Jubilee Party primaries.
During an interview with KTN on Wednesday, Duale said that the move was unstoppable.
''The move to have the treasury fund the nominations is unstoppable and the process is on course,'' said Duale.
The leader further defended the move stating that the party is not in any way interfering with the law as that is the norm in almost all democracies.
''In almost all democracies worldwide, party primaries are funded by the money from the taxpayer. The price of democracy is expensive and whether IEBC conducts the nominations or not,at the end of the day the common citizens must go through two elections,''he said
However, the move to have the primaries funded by the exchequer is contrary to the President's statement during the Jubilee Party launch earlier where he said that the party will source for its own money to fund its nominations.
''We will look for money to pay the IEBC to conduct our primaries so that all our candidates and Kenyans get a fair nomination,''Said President Kenyatta.
