Kenyans will have to dig deeper into their pockets, after the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) increased fuel prices for the second time in less than a month.
The latest development is set to put more pressure on the already strained consumers’ budget.
In the latest review, Super Petrol will retail at Sh104.17 from midnight, while diesel and kerosene have been adjusted upwards by Sh0.03 to Sh92.44 and Sh0.19 to Sh71.42 respectively.
These new prices will be reviewed again on January 14, 2018, when the ERC will issue new prices guides.
The commission has not given the reason for the increase, which comes a month after yet another increase in the prices.
In November, the ERC cited rising average landed cost of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene as the main reason for the increase.
Then, the costs of Petrol rose by Sh1.03 per litre, while diesel and kerosene went up by Sh3.70 and Sh5.05 per litre respectively.
The prices have been rising steadily for the last three months, setting a worrying trend to Kenyans who have had to endure a rough political time.
With the holiday season already here, Kenyans will feel the pinch even further and would hope that the prices are slashed come January next year.
