The Director of Medical Services Dr. Jackson Kioko has urged Kenyans  to donate blood to save lives of many Kenyans who are in need.

He said this will help curb blood shortage that has been witnessed in the country.

"Kenyans should develop a culture of donating blood since it will help in filling the gap of blood shortage in  hospitals which has been caused by lack of blood donation," he said  in Eldoret town, Friday.

"Those between the age bracket of 15 to 45 years are eligible to donate blood. We give blood to 1,000 to 2000 people per day. More blood is needed to curb any shortage through voluntary blood donation," he added.

He, however, said that the National government through the Ministry of Health will equip all blood transfusion centers in the Country.

"We have set aside sh 200m to equip Nakuru,Kisumu, Embu, Mombasa, Eldoret and Nairobi blood transfusion centers," noted Dr. Kioko.
