Kenyans urged to go for HIV testing
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) CEO Wilson Aruasa has urged Kenyans to go for HIV/AIDS testing.
He said this will make one plan for his or her life and if affected to start taking medicines at an early stage.
“It is very sad that at this time and era most Kenyans don’t know their HIV status. By knowing your status it will be easier to be advised on the type of food one is supposed to eat and the things to avoid if found infected,” he said at the MTRH memorial hospital during the World AIDS day, Friday.
“Although Kenya has made tremendous progress in the fight against HIV, the biggest obstacle that continues to frustrate these efforts is the unwillingness by many to undertake an HIV test, therefore, need to sensitize them on the same,” he added.
He, however, urged Kenyans not to discriminate people living with HIV/AIDS since they are all Kenyans and if you are not infected you are affected in one way or the other.
“Let us give them the support they need, this will make them feel part of us and live many years. We should remember that anyone can get the virus no matter his status in the society,” noted Aruasa.
